TITA Robot Wins the 2023 DIA Design Rising Star Award in the Concept Category
December 16, 2023

The grand award ceremony for the 2023 China Design Intelligence Award (DIA) was held on December 15 at the Liangzhu Campus of the China Academy of Art. Following intense multi-round competitions and under the scrutiny of a professional jury, the TITA robot, independently developed and designed by Direct Drive Tech, successfully made it into the Top 10 in the Concept Category. It was honored with the Design Rising Star Award in the Concept Category, joining 30 other outstanding works in the finals from globally renowned tech enterprises and research institutions, including Honeywell (US), iFLYTEK, Alibaba, Tencent, Mindray, BrainCo, Dunhuang Academy, ZTE, and SenseTime.

Launched officially in March, the 2023 DIA received over 7,000 entries from 41 countries and regions worldwide. Companies and research institutes from Fortune 500s and cutting-edge fields such as brain-computer science, artificial intelligence, and space exploration participated in the defense sessions. A professional jury comprising academicians from Chinese and foreign engineering academies, representatives from the World Design Organization, renowned independent designers, university experts, and museum curators evaluated the submissions with a professional perspective to identify the most globally representative design achievements. After preliminary and secondary reviews, more than 80 domestic and international experts conducted rigorous selections, ultimately shortlisting 30 outstanding works (20 in the Industry Category and 10 in the Concept Category) for the finals.

The TITA robot is a direct-drive wheel-legged robot equipped with advanced perception and decision-making capabilities. Featuring 8 degrees of freedom (DOF) across its body, it seamlessly combines the high speed of wheeled robots with the superior mobility and obstacle-crossing performance of legged robots, ensuring highly efficient and flexible task execution in complex, multi-terrain environments. Built with a modular structure and open interfaces, the TITA robot can be integrated with vision modules, communication modules, AI hosts, edge processors, and various sensors. It is widely deployed in smart parks, mines, and complex industrial settings for high-efficiency inspections, payload transportation, data collection, and 3D scanning/mapping. Additionally, it is extensively utilized by universities and research institutes for teaching, scientific research, and robotics competitions.

Direct Drive Tech recognition with the Design Rising Star Award in the Concept Category of the DIA highlights its exceptional capabilities in innovation, product design, and core team development. This achievement demonstrates that the team's design and intelligent manufacturing outcomes have earned widespread acclaim from professionals across various sectors.
